9th European Symposium on Nanomechanical Testing
September 9th to 11th, 2008
in Hückelhoven / Germany
organized in collaboration with
Program Committee
Prof. George Pharr / University of Tennessee / USA
Prof. Steve Bull / University of Newcastle / UK
Prof. Susan Enders / University of Nebraska / USA
Dr. Robert F. Cook / National Institute of Standards and Technology / USA
Dr. Holger Pfaff / SURFACE / Germany
The Symposium follows up the annual European Symposia on nanomechanical testing held in Hückelhoven from 2000 to 2007. It is addressed to the growing European community in this field, and is focused on the theory and practice of determining mechanical properties of materials with nanoindentation and other nano/micro scale testing techniques. The symposium will be held in English.
The special focus for nanomech 9 is:
“Incredible Machines- Novel techniques for testing mechanical properties in microscopic dimensions”
We are delighted to announce Prof. N. Burnham (Worcester Polytechnic Institute), Prof. W. Clegg (Cambridge University),
Dr. K. Durst (University of Erlangen-Nürnberg), Prof. T. Saif, (University of Illinois) and Prof. M. Buehler,
MIT as our confirmed invited speakers.
Other topics include:
- Theoretical aspects of nanoindentation testing
- Testing techniques and relation to other methods
- Mechanics of polymers and biological materials
- Quantitative Scanning Probe Microscope measurements
Important dates:
July 25th, 2008: Extended abstract submission deadline
Aug 1st, 2008: Notification of acceptance of presentations
Aug 4th, 2008: Early registration deadline
Publication:
The symposium papers will be published together in the International Journal of Materials Research.
The papers will be collected during the conference, reviewed and submitted to the Editor.
