Biomaterials research and product development requirements increasingly call for fast, reliable submicron mechanical properties analysis. A particular challenge in this arena is the evaluation of viscoelastic and dynamic properties. Yet properties such as storage and loss modulus can affect the potential performance of biomaterials in a given application.
NANO Bionix® universal testing systems incorporate state-of-the-art technology to achieve accurate, reproducible results for the measurement of nanomechanical properties. NANO Bionix® systems couple a robust design to extend instrument life with our powerful Windows®-based TestWorks® software that both simplifies testing and enables a variety of experiment options.
NANO Bionix® systems offer an unsurpassed means of measuring both quasistatic and dynamic properties. Incorporating a nanomechanical actuating transducer (NMAT), NANO Bionix® is capable of conducting both large and small strain tests. In large strain testing, thanks to its patented technique, NMAT applies and senses load while the crosshead strains the sample. In this mode, extension is measured by the movement of the crosshead. In small strain testing, the crosshead remains stationary as NMAT applies and senses load while also measuring extension. |
NANO Bionix® systems from MTS are the only commercially available universal testing systems that allow dynamic properties to be measured using the CDA method. By superimposing a nanometer-level oscillatory force, the CDA method offers a means of separating the in-phase and out-of-phase components the load-displacement history to evaluate the time-dependent response of the material.
Ultimate tensile strength, yield, modulus and failure measurements are a snap to perform with NANO Bionix® systems. When coupled with the CDA option, you can use NANO Bionix ® systems to measure dynamic properties, such as storage and loss modulus, with a high degree of confidence in the results.
